Mobile communications for vehicles from Teldat

New: the bintec RV series — 3G/4G, WLAN, VPN and GPS

NUREMBERG. bintec elmeg GmbH has added to its portfolio of routing solutions the new high-performance RV series, which has been specifically developed for the automotive sector. The bintec RV120-4G and RV120w-4G come encased in a robust housing, making them perfectly suited to providing vehicles with fast internet access via 3G and 4G (UMTS/LTE).

The long list of additional features such as wireless LAN connectivity, VPN, and GPS allows organizations such as transportation providers, agricultural operations, security services, police forces, and fire departments to use these devices for a broad range of applications.

Bernd Büttner, Director, Business Line Management at Teldat, remarked: "The bintec RV series is based on Teldat's unified hardware platform. In developing the functionality of devices, we took advantage of our Spanish colleagues' expertise in industrial and in-vehicle communications, which we combined with user-friendly operation for our customers."

Robust and flexible communications.

bintec RV-series models can operate with power provided directly from the vehicle's battery (12/24 V). They power down automatically on a delay after the vehicle's engine is turned off. The new models have received full approval for use in vehicles (E1 certification), they resist vibrations, and they operate over an extended range of temperatures from as low as -30°C all the way up to 70°C. The bintec RV120-4G and bintec RV120w-4G are particularly flexible thanks to their connectivity, positioning and remote maintenance options via LTE, HSDPA, UMTS, GPRS, VPN, WLAN and GPS.

These technologies ensure that a multitude of communications needs are fulfilled including internet access for passengers and secure, hardware-encrypted VPN links to company networks. The available high-speed LTE (4G) connection with dual radio and dual SIM card support ensures the units will operate across national borders and enables high performance communications while using up to two communications providers.

The integrated GPS capability also allows for location-dependent configurations, for instance to trigger the transmission of passenger data wirelessly when a bus returns to the central station. Data obtained for instance by logistics and agricultural operations can also be securely transmitted.

A user-friendly, web-based tool with integrated wizards makes it easy to quickly configure bintec routers.
