bintec elmeg: new 802.11ac access points with attractive prices

Performance and value — the bintec W2003ac and W2003ac-ext

NUREMBERG. bintec elmeg GmbH has added two new 802.11ac access points for business applications to its wireless LAN portfolio. The new W2003ac and W2003ac-ext access points deliver good value and - using 2x2 MIMO - support all modern .11ac devices such as smartphones and tablets without compromising performance. The bintec W2003ac and W2003ac-ext are compatible with .11n devices and a perfect choice for adding the new .11ac technology to existing .11n business networks while conserving electricity and requiring no new PoE infrastructure.

Moreover, the bintec W2003ac and W2003ac-ext can be managed with either the controller-free wireless LAN management systems bintec Cloud NetManager and bintec Virtual Cloud NetManager or a bintec WLAN Controller installed on the local network.

Hans-Dieter Wahl, business line manager at bintec elmeg, remarked: "In developing the Gigabit WLAN series, we focused on delivering professional features and wireless LAN management at an attractive price. These models are very easy to integrate into existing networks - they don't require new PoE switches, and you don't need to install a new wireless controller, either."

Thanks to their dual radio modules, the bintec W2003ac and the W2003ac-ext allow for concurrent operation in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. bintec Client Management provides bandsteering and airtime fairness features to obtain maximum performance from wireless clients, which are always connected to the access point that can offer the best throughput. The access points constantly scan the frequency band in the background to detect any factors that may impact performance or represent a breach in security.

MIMO 2x2 technology - with two transmission streams - allows for maximum raw data rates of up to 867 Mbps in 802.11ac mode while permitting use with popular and cost-effective PoE infrastructures (<12.4 watts). Moreover, MIMO 2x2 technology is an ideal match for current smartphones and tablet PCs, which only support 802.11ac with MIMO 1x1. While both are wrapped in elegant and unobtrusive housings, the bintec W2003ac has internal antennas whereas the W2003ac-ext ships with external antennas. You can turn off their LEDs. Both of these 802.11ac access points are certified for use in medical environments.
